How this was decided
- Method
- Suburbs ranked by median total household income (weekly, annualised by the ABS).
- Data source
- ABS Census 2021
- Who was eligible
- Population 1,000+ with a Census income figure. Covers all states and territories. The ABS publishes income by postcode, so suburbs sharing a postcode share a figure and will tie.
- How many suburbs were ranked
- 3,817 suburbs had measured data and met the eligibility rule. Suburbs without measured data were not ranked — they were not scored low, they were left out.
- Independence
- Nobody can buy this award, a place in it, or a change to it. It is computed from public data by a published formula and has no commercial relationship attached.
